Self-powered touch-free washing
The Kopfgescheit KG5148SG is an automatic basin faucet designed primarily for commercial washrooms. Its included KG-A448 hydro generator converts the energy of flowing water into electricity to power the sensor controls, working together with the KG-A467 solenoid valve. No batteries or external electrical supply are required.
Construction and maintenance
The fixed, non-swivelling spout is made from SUS304 (AISI 304) stainless steel. The faucet combines stainless steel with low-lead brass components. The generator and solenoid valve use PA66GF20 polyamide reinforced with 20% glass fibre for strength and durability.
A built-in flow limiter restricts water flow to a maximum of 6 l/min. The concealed aerator can be removed with the supplied service key. The solenoid valve incorporates a 100 µm filter and EasyCare maintenance, allowing the filter and valve to be serviced without disconnecting the assembly from the supply line. The stainless steel surface is resistant to cleaning agents, including chlorine-based cleaners and disinfectants.
How it works
- A separate thermostatic mixing valve prepares water at the selected temperature and supplies it to the faucet. The faucet has no integrated temperature adjustment.
- When hands enter the infrared sensor detection zone, the solenoid valve opens and water flows from the spout.
- The digital sensor calibrates automatically at initial power-up. Optional adjustment is available using the KG000 RC remote control, which is not included.
Continuous operation is limited to 60 seconds, after which the water shuts off automatically. After more than 24 hours without use, an automatic flush replenishes the basin trap water seal.
Power supply
The KG-A448 hydro generator is included in the package. It supplies energy from the water flow, eliminating routine battery replacement and the need for a mains power connection.
Operating economy
Touch-free control can reduce water use by up to 50–70%, depending on the previous faucet and usage pattern. The generator reduces battery purchases, storage and maintenance. A five-year warranty applies to the complete product, including commercial operation, with service support throughout the product life.
